Be True to Your Fool

Final Fantasy 14's latest patch hit servers a couple of weeks ago! Oh, was it exciting! It totally did not fail expectations; so much awesome tear jerking story accompanied by fun and interesting environments and battles! Whenever such heavy story segments are added, I can't help but to think how sad it is that there are players who skip it. T_T -but yeah, we're still playing FF14, still. XD We haven't done everything in the patch, but we're in no rush.

Aside from the past weekend, I don't actually play that much FF14 anymore since I stopped raiding. It's taken a backseat to my life; I guess it makes sense though since I don't have big goals in-game anymore and I always feel anxious about needing to get things done in real life. But because of not having any devoted "social time", I barely ever interact with anyone anymore. To be honest, in most situations I encounter with an opportunity to socialize, I'm too tired to want to. It feels like such a mystery to me how artists can pull off producing work meanwhile keeping up a meaningful social life. '_' Moving on-

I always loved the idea of underdog jobs in RPGs. Dragon Quest 3's "clown" class becoming a Sage was always one of my favorite concepts, even though I actually never passed the game, nor did I ever get to the point where I was able to get to Sage. ^^ I think I'm really drawn to the concept because there's the idea of "clear future potential" behind it. They may be a screw up, but as long as they work hard and do their best, then they can still become someone valuable.

Though it's based on simple system mechanics, it feels like there's a semblance of the basic character arc trope; somewhere along their personal journey, they find enlightenment or a calling, and are made to succeed in becoming more than what they once were. Similar to a reason why I always loved the original Megaman when I was small, because of the idea that in the story, he's not particularly powerful in the beginning, but has the ability to learn or copy, which when built upon can be pretty crazy. But yeah, just another one of those things about growing up I guess; looking up and hoping that one day in the future I'll find my value. XD Gotta keep chasing that "shadow"!
