Bear and I are still infected with the Final Fantasy bug. XD I feel kind of bad about doing so many FF related comics, but hey, when you have the energy and passion, it's usually best to go with the flow, right? =) -And at least because of the bug, we've gotten a chance to do comics on a few gems of our childhood. We've been wanting to go back and touch on FFTactics and FF6 for a while now. ^-^

Doing work on this week's comic got me going back and checking out some of my favorite parts of FF6. A number of the search results on youtube ended up being of the Playstation, Gameboy Advance, and iOS ports which makes me kind of sad and frustrated. I know not everyone has access to the Super Nintendo version or ROM emulation but just the fact that people are seeing and playing these versions as their first impressions of the game or think they're the "definitive version" is so painful because none of them do the game justice! I'm so frustrated because I love the game so much! >.<

The problems with the Playstation and Gamboy Advance ports mainly have to do with the loading times, slow down, and script changes (I actually prefer Ted Woolsey's take on the script that was in the SNES release. =x), but the iOS port is on a whole other level! I know that it must have taken a ton of work and time redoing the graphics and trying to figure out and program the systems to work well on a phone, but it just looks egregiously horrendous-not just the sprites, spell effects, backgrounds, menus, and how they all visually clash, but the battle interface; it takes the cake! All the skill menus obstruct the battle field so much, you can barely see the skills you command in action! At least in the iOS version of FF5 (which I still hate how it looks >.< ) you can see through your skill windows enough to kinda enjoy what's going on. It's just so incredibly sad to see a shining gem of a game like FF6 being presented in this way. T-T
