"A video game comic and blog that would have been awesome and relevant 10 years ago. Maybe." -Famous Website
Pie and I have started to become increasingly interested in playing DnD. The various ways we have seen the storytelling, imagination and strategy come into play has made it seem electrifying! Considering how much we adore those aspects in our vidja games, it seems right up our alley. The only real deterrent is having a vector into the complex game and all of its nuances. Oh well, pop culture has brought us up right and I'm sure we can wing it.
When I was in high school, my best friend was really into DnD and even invited me to join. I was really shy about attending though because...well, he was the only one I really knew at the time out of a group of 6 or more. I turned it down simply because I was shy, too afraid of being judged for being a noob, not knowing the rules and just generally not fitting in. I feel so dumb that I used to turn down opportunities to hang out with people I probably would have enjoyed the company of. It took so long for me to come out of my shell. Thankfully, I am much more inclined and excited to try those experiences I missed out on when I was younger.
As for Pie, she tells me that her brother was actually rather into the game, but she was never invited. It wasn't just that though; she would tell me she felt awkward for wanting to hang out with her brothers' friends even though she and her brother were very close. I suppose it is a similar sort of awkwardness that I felt, now that I think about it.
On top of DnD, Pie and I want to get into tabletop gaming in general. Watching Wil Wheaton's TableTop has sparked a huge interest in a number of the games that they have featured on the show. There are so many diverse types of gaming out there and Pie and I are hungry to try out new things after subsisting on a video-game only diet for so long. Why are there so many awesome sources of entertainment?!? WHYYYYYY????
