Rated M for Mature

Pokemon as a series is getting along in its age already celebrating its 15 year anniversary. To all the young kids that were into the big Pokemon craze circa 1998 it is quite possible that they are grown and have kids of their own by now. I mean, if they were between 7 and 12 when the phenomenon hit America, it means they are now between 20 and 25. If you take it a step further, someone at the edge of that spectrum at 25 now who had a child in high school at 18 would now have a child at the age of 7!! And so the red and white circle of life continues…

Seeing that their original loyal fans have grown up and possibly out of the Pokemon phase, it is natural to guess that they would want to be able to market to a slightly older crowd in order to capitalize on their established fan base. Although people speculated this as fact, we couldn’t find any real proof that they are going in this direction but news of a more edgy look for the new Black and White manga seem to point to that.

Given that there are only so many ways to appeal to a more mature audience, Pie and I decided to have a bit of a run at it to see just what their options were. Exploring new locales and capturing the latest exotic pokemon would be a treat given the right context. So as you explore today’s mature comic, just remember that sexual innuendo is all in what you make of it.

Well…except the vulva – that’s pretty damn explicit.

For All Ages

january 28, 2011

I was first a bit worried about doing such a "mature" themed comic for this week, but I'm glad we did because I'm happy about how it turned out. There are a bunch of small touches that really make me smile like Ron's expressions and the floating hearts background. There are some pretty in-your-face adult things in this comic that I think add a lot to the humor so I suppose I'll have to go with the stance of "If someone's offended by the comic, then it's their own problem", right? XD

I think it's really interesting doing another Pokemon Black and White themed comic; the last one we did was all the way back in Life in Aggro issue #11. The Bear and Pie sure have changed a lot over the past few months. Sometimes I wonder if the change is good because I have a number of manga artists who's old art style I like more than their current. I kinda miss seeing cuter younger looking Bear and Pie, but I also think them looking older is more suiting for the type of situations Bear and I want to put them in. I hope you all enjoy and welcome all that is to come in the future of Life in Aggro.

Bonus Art?!

january 28, 2011

Remember last week I promised bonus art?! Well I lied!! Don’t you feel like a fool for believing in someone on the Internet? Maybe you will learn for next time before you fall into the hands of some predator. You know the one offering free candy on Craig’s List - just stop by his van around midnight; he's conveniently parked across from your elementary school. No go ahead; it’s totally legit.

Seriously though – it’s late Thursday night / Friday morning and I’ll update the thoughts post this weekend with the bonus art, so be sure to check back!

For now enjoy the awesome picture I found in a random Google image search!

P.S. – Pie’s thoughts title is "For All Ages", which I find funny. Is she implying sex is appropriate for all ages? Guess you’ll have to ask her~

Bonus Art!!

february 2, 2011

Okay. I'm terrible at keeping promises.

Here at last is the bonus art! I'll re-post it with this weeks entry since I was so far off from "this weekend". Both pieces are inspired by the "Time Parabox" comic.
