Dead Ringer

I've been playing the indie metroidvania game, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight this month and really enjoying it! =D It has such a great mysterious, dark atmosphere. I'm getting a feeling from it that I haven't felt in a really really long time, like, not since Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Super Metroid. I've played a few of the 2D hand held metroidvania Castlevania games long ago, but they never quite gave the old feeling of really being alone in silence as I'm exploring an "alien" terrain. I'm sure that I'd probably enjoy Hollow Knight. XD Maybe one day.

When going through the game, I eventually reached a point where I had to go underwater. It was really cool and a little spooky because being out of the water, you can't really see clearly what's underwater due to your reflection off the surface. Once I dropped into the water, I started feeling really tense, frantically looking for any sign of a breath indicator or of my life decreasing. I didn't see any signs of breath so I continued exploring underwater, but was still feeling really tense; my eyes darting frantically for piles of air bubbles or air pockets. I noticed this and couldn't help but to chuckle at my anxiety. XD I think, from so much of my young gaming experience, water has so often been an instant death or "no-no zone" and if you're ABLE to go underwater, you usually have a timer for how long you can last... -except for in Sonic games, where the countdown starts only just a few seconds before you die. X3 I always dreaded the water areas in Sonic games when I was small because he's so heavy and slow in water, and I always had the anxiety of the count down and having to look for air, even before the countdown even starts. @_@ I think I've been traumatized by a degree. hahahah
