"A video game comic and blog that would have been awesome and relevant 10 years ago. Maybe." -Famous Website
Back in the middle of June, just after the school Brie works at was wrapping up the session before summer break, she came to visit for a couple of weeks!! We had rough plans for her to fly out sometime during her break, but when we heard that the Eorzean Symphony was set to perform the day after her vacation started, we knew we had to make it happen, and so she flew out late that Friday evening and the next night we were treated with a evening we'll treasure for a lifetime.
In all the time that Brie and I have been together, this was only the second time we had been together in person (the first being in April), so it was already cause for it to be memorable. But the fact that we were getting dressed up for a symphony that was playing music from the game we fell in love through…well, that just made everything magical. I couldn't have asked for better timing for a series of events~
During her time here, we explored Los Angeles together and when we stayed in, we would experience different media together. When I was busy working on various things, she would spend her time enjoying her latest obsession, Fortnite. She had introduced it to me before her arrival and we had played it a tiny bit together, but it wasn't until she was here and I could watch her play firsthand that it really sparked my interest.
There is just something so interesting and novel about a FPS game with fast-paced building elements. I would get distracted while doing things around the house just to watch her matches. Seeing how she would build and still maintain a keen enough awareness to take down the competition, it gave the feeling of "ooo MA GAAWD!! That looks super cool and I want to do super cool things TOO!"
After Brie left and we were back to our normal LDR thing, my interest in Fortnite starting ramping up and I wanted to experience playing with her during the times we would spend together. Unfortunately, I don't have even a sliver of her skill and it shows! I think the person I took out that won us the game this comic is based off of may have been one of my only kills >.> Like, seriously... I think I might have enough to count on one hand. A full one at that! No amputated/missing digit hands for THIS girl. Anyways, even if I'm losing bunches, I'm still enjoying myself, and that's what counts~
