Blizzcon fever is running high in the Bear and Pie cave lately with neighbors getting an earful of the jaunty Goblins vs. Gnomes theme being sung be either Pie or me at any given time of the day. Prior to the announcement, Hearthstone play had cooled down quite substantially as the meta game changes introduced with the Naxx adventure and the Leroy/Buzzard/Hounds nerfs settled the meta game down into pretty predictable patterns. The excitement of seeing a lot of really novel cards that have random effects and interesting situational use as well as the fun trailer for the game has just stoked the ol' hearth within.
Speaking of great trailers, Overwatch was also a pleasant surprise and has piqued our interest a bit. Pie and I had never played shooter games together prior to Borderlands 2 so we missed out on the Team Fortress 2 craze. Overwatch seems like it might be a great segue into the team subset of the genre, especially if it goes free-to-play which seems quite possible considering Hearthstone's success and TF2's already free nature. Either way, the environments, characters and Blizzard's tracks records tend to make me believe we will be sinking our teeth into it once it arrives.
