"A video game comic and blog that would have been awesome and relevant 10 years ago. Maybe." -Famous Website
Tonight’s comic was such a long time coming; I hope that you all will find it quite stunning. Okay, enough of that! I’ve been possessed to do rhyming for this comic – I’m not quite sure why other that it just popped into my head to do that for this installment. Pie and I have wanted to do a Zelda inspired comic for a rather long time now, so I am very happy that we finally have one that pays homage to such a great series!
As far as game news, there is not quite a lot to talk about, so this will be a rather short post from me. I do hope that everyone has a safe and happy Halloween this year though! Also, I want to let everyone know that Life in Aggro is now up on Facebook and Twitter, so check us out and friend us/follow us! I will be posting updates there about how the comic is coming along and other silly things that Pie and I are up to; each having unique info so if you have both make sure to check us out on both. In the near future I will add shortcuts to our accounts there on the main page here for easy accessibility!
Anyways, that is it for me tonight! I really hope you all enjoy this one, corny as it may be.
This week's comic was a bit stressing to finish up due to having constant headaches and drowsiness spells. I don't know what happened to us, but I don't think we're sick (Bear's been having them too.) As uncomfortable as it was, it was really fun drawing a Zelda related comic; Bear and I've wanted to do one for some time now. It took a while to decide which variation of Link to draw. I was heavily leaning towards using the brown haired classic Link from the first and second NES instruction manuals when we first started, but ended up using Toon Link because we were listening to Zelda: Spirit Tracks music and I was reminded how much I love that game. XD I really didn't like the idea of using Adult Link or Young Link from recent console games because as much as I like Zelda games, Adult link is too much of a pretty boy and It kinda bugs me how so many fans swoon at him. -_- Not only that, but I ended up really favoring Toon Link after getting into Spirit Tracks. =) He's so expressive and carries with him the old school hero feel of just a normal kid being thrown into a big adventure. I think it’s kind of sad though that classic Link seems to have been forgotten and is most likely unknown to many young Zelda fans nowadays.
The visual planning process for the comic was very nostalgic; it made me think of the strong classic NES Zelda Illustrations I used to see as a kid. Two of the most memorable images for me were of Link walking with a stern face down a road towards the viewer with his shield and sword drawn and a picture of him with an old woman showing the tri-force symbol on his left hand. I really wanted to capture the essence of those two pictures in today's comic. I hope I succeeded. =) Enjoy the comic!
Oh! Some of you might have noticed Pie dressed as Roll Caskett from Megaman Legends! XD I've been wanting to do that for a while too!~ =D
