Yeah, I'm sure you are right about the learning process; the biggest hurdle is just getting started and forming the habit, right? Just need to make the commitment and take it a small step at a time.

Oh! I'm really curious why you think Capoeira lost some of its purity by being hidden in dance. Care to elaborate?

My favorite martial art is Muay Thai, though that's probably largely attributed to the awesome Tony Ja. If anyone has not seen Ong Bak or The Protector, those are both super awesome. Ong Bak 2 and 3 though...ehh, some good scenes but not as good.

@Bear: Just the fact that they took a martial art and had to hide it. I guess if you look at it as the creation of a new martial art and not as the dilution of one then it is different. Yeah, actually that way of thinking makes more sense.

New Opinion: It is not the dilution of an old martial art but the evolution of one. Maybe? Yeah, I am going to stick which that.

Well, I think the evolution approach is a great way of considering it. I think what is fascinating to me about Capoeira being shrouded in dance was that it was born out of necessity as a way for the original practitioners to practice while being under the radar. I bet a complicated "tribal dance" would look pretty harmless to the slave traders who were not wise to what was actually going on.

I'll also have to check out The Protector, I like a good fight movie hehe

Don't rule out Ong Bak though! I know I said there is a 2 and 3 but though those are related to each other they aren't really related to the first one.

Make sure you tell me whatcha think if you see either or both. The Protector also has a cool cameo in it lol.

I used to be really into martial arts for a long time when I was younger; even now, I think it'd be really cool to learn, but I don't think I have the devotion or time to get to a level I'd feel happy about. '_'

I personally really hate school! >.< I did pretty well for the most part, but I don't know, I think maybe I got tired of doing assignments that force you to do a lot of research and work on something I have no interest in whatsoever. I actually have nightmares about school pretty regularly it seems; probably once every three or four weeks-ish. >.<

I think studying foreign languages is fun and cool, it's like solving a puzzle through code! It makes me really happy to get to the point where you can build your own "codes" speak it mostly fluently. XD I don't know anything about Danish (except it's tasty? XD I know... lame =x), but good luck learning it! I hope you have fun!

I realize that I am almost a month late in my welcome post, but thanks to Bear and Pie (Sorry you two ) I remembered that this forum was here!

I too enjoy school! So much so in fact that I became a teacher I don't teach a specific subject because I am a resource specialist, but I love what I do

Languages are so much fun to learn. I was learning Japanese while I was an undergraduate, but now I have forgotten so much... At least I am still fluent in Spanish
Danish sounds tough! But what a cool choice of language to learn.

It's prolly the forum skin you have on, some don't show the classes for some reason so change it, pick class, then change back
