LiA #36 - Mama Would be Proud

It took me a while to think of a crime suitable to charge Mama with, oddly enough. Another thing that I did not mention in my thoughts post (mostly because I was tired and we were late posting this week) was that we were really trying to convey the thick foreign accent that Mama has in the games. When I first saw videos on it, I thought we were watching a Japanese version of the game and then came to the surprising fact that this was the voice used in the international release as well. I thought about charging Mama with cooking dog, but that may be a little on the racey side (it's a joke I often play around with Fei because it's cute to see her laugh and be slightly mad at me at the same time).

Example (after watching Hajime no Ippo where Ippos dog is named Wanpo (Wan(sound a dog makes)+po(Ippo, the owner)):
Me: You know, a dog goes Woof Woof in English and Wan Wan in Japanese.
Me: I wonder what sound a dog makes in Chinese?
Me: Oh, that should be obvious. Sizzle Sizzle.
Fei: That's terrible!! *hits me while laughing*

She is just so cute, I can't help but tell her off color jokes from time to time. Yes yes, I'm twisted but it's all in good fun ^^

When the police came the first thing I thought of was something from "Babysitting Mama" though I haven't played it so I don't know if there would've been anything possibly bad out of that, lol. Though it was still good, there was ONE thing I was hoping would be in there somewhere...MAMA WILL FIX IT!

On the thoughts related note...I kinda liked Nintendogs ^_^;;; Not that I played a whole lot of it, but it was interesting to mess around with for a bit. As there weren't a ton of DS games at launch there weren't a ton of options either =X

Wow, it just goes to show that I never really know how a joke will land until I get some feedback. To be honest, when Pie and I finished this one I was kind of unhappy with it. I didn't think it hit the mark as well as it should (even though every time I look at the "Shank the Snitch" panel I chuckle). I'm happy that you enjoyed it so much Mel =D

The funny thing was, when looking for reference material on cooking mama, we didn't see anyone messing up badly enough to see the "Mama Will Fix It" failure. It is a funny expression, but I think she comes off as a lot more crazy with nothing but happy expressions throughout the comic.

Also! Yeah, I will agree that the DS launch title library kind of sucked. I don't remember there being too many things I wanted when it hit and I didn't bother getting a DS until the DS lite came out (thought now I wished I had a DS XL...stupid Nintendo). Nintendogs was so popular and I thought that the technology was interesting but neat technology doesn't equal a fun game. At least thats how I saw it so I never spent much time with it.
